Hurricane Harvey’s Effect on Dallas-Fort Worth
And while the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex is incredibly blessed to have escaped the wrath of Hurricane Harvey, we did experience some heavy winds and rain. And whenever we have strong winds, it’s always a good idea to have your roof system inspected for any damage, missing, or loose shingles, missing flashing, and other problems on the roof system.
Here are some tips when looking at your roof and inspecting for any signs of problems.
Before you jump on a ladder and climb the incline of your roof, simply look around. Check your yard to see if you can spot any missing shingles, fallen branches, or other debris. Your yard can tell you a lot about your roof system.
If you notice anything out of the ordinary, look up. Don’t grab the ladder quite yet, just look up to check your trees and make sure no branches have scraped the roof, fallen on the roof, or punctured the roof system. Also look for any loose shingles. Sometimes, they don’t fall off completely, but they hang on by a thread and that can still be problematic.
Finally, examine your home’s interior ceiling, including in the attic. You want to make sure there are no leaks, no punctures, no harm.
If you see anything that looks concerning, contact a professional roofing expert. We want DFW residents and commercial property owners to remain safe, so if you do decide to use a ladder to get a better look at anything on the roof or in the attack, please use extreme caution. Don’t carry anything in your hands as you climb the ladder.
Somethings a loose shingle or two won’t indicate any type of problem, but not everyone gets that lucky. It’s best to have a professional inspect your roof at least two times a year, for preventative maintenance. Contact Joe Hall Roofing and set up your consultation today.
